Reset a User Password

Users can have their passwords reset one of two ways, either by requesting a password reset at the login screen, or by having an administrator issue a password reset email.

About this task

If an administrator issues a password reset email, the user's security questions are bypassed and the user can reset their password directly. It is important to verify the user's identity and validate the user email address prior to issuing a password reset.


  1. In the Users tab in the Administration page, select the user you want to manage.
  2. Verify the user's email.
    If you need to make changes to the email address, save your changes before clicking the password reset link.
  3. Click Send a Change Password email to this user.


The user receives an email containing a special link to allow them to reset their password. The link is time-limited and expires after a fixed time period.
