Hide a Proxy Password

Veracode recommends that you prevent a password from being shown in a console log by using a variable to hide the proxy password.

About this task

To hide the proxy password:

Procedure

  1. In the Build or Release window, navigate to the Variables tab.
  2. Add a new variable by selecting + Add.
  3. Enter information in the Name and Value fields. For example, enter pwd in the Name field and enter your proxy password in the Value field.
  4. Hide the password by selecting the Lock checkbox. ().
    After you complete this action, the locked password is displayed as locked.
  5. Set the proxy password as follows:
    1. For the Veracode Flaw Importer, in the Proxy Settings field, enter the password as a variable $(pwd).
      Configure the Veracode Flaw Importer describes how to use the Flaw Importer.
      As shown in the Proxy Settings field, the $(pwd) variable is included with other variables.
    2. For the Upload and Scan task, in the Optional Arguments field, enter the password as a variable $(pwd).
      As shown in the Optional Arguments field, the $(pwd) variable is included with other variables.

    The Optional Arguments field supports all parameters for the uploadandscan API.

    The console log hides the password.
